Older People’s Day Celebrates with Karaoke and Dancing

by Sean Massey on October 5, 2018

On the 1st of October we were invited to help out at Older People’s Day at Eccles Old Town Hall. The event focussed on celebrating all the amazing achievements and opportunities for older people in Salford to get involved in their community. Salford is becoming an Age Friendly City, and the event helped realise how important older people are to the wider community. Activities on the day included karaoke (lots of Vera Lynn!), dancing and of course bingo. There were even speakers including Councillor Reynolds who welcomed all of the guests and spoke to them about our Age Friendly Journey, and Anthony Hassal from Salford CCG who spoke about 3 tips to stay healthy especially with the weather becoming colder as we move into the winter months.

One of the participants we spoke to really enjoyed the day; “I enjoyed learning about what is happening to improve the lives of older people across Salford”.
