Creating Better Places to Live

by Bernadette Elder on March 11, 2020

Inspiring Communities Together are getting closer to developing their ambitious plans to develop housing for social rent in Salford.

Following a successful bid to Homes England for a grant to explore the idea of developing a community led housing model over the past few months, the Inspiring Communities Together Board have been supported by Pulse Regeneration to develop their model and business plan.

The next  stage of development has been to create the governance structure for the model and in February the Board agreed and submitted an application to register as a Community Benefit Society.  In March we were advised that Inspiring Housing has successfully been registered as a Community Land Trust – this will now enable us to complete an application to become a Registered Social Landlord which will manage our homes.

Alongside the development of our business plan and governance we have been working closely with Salford City Council and Broughton Trust to identify sites for development and create initial plans.

Over the next two years we expect to have created at least 30 homes for local residents of Salford.
