Age Well

Age Friendly Salford

by Bernadette Elder on November 20, 2019

On Wednesday 13th November Inspiring Communities Together welcomed over 80 people to share the learning from the Salford Age Friendly Journey.

The event showcased the approach taken in Salford working with the World Health Organisation Age Friendly Communities framework and provided the final evaluation stages of our four year journey. Speakers from the public sector, voluntary sector and older people shared the roles they had been involved in and the impact it had made on their lives or the lives of those they work with.

Many thanks to Jean for opening the event with a poem and Paddy for closing the event with a powerful speech about the difference being involved had made to his life.

The work has been delivered in partnership with Salford Age UK, Salford CVS, Salford Community Leisure with funded provided by Salford City Council Public Health and Salford Clinical Commissioning Group.
The event finished with everyone present making a pledge to donate some words to an older person as part of the national Age UK and Cadbury campaign to end loneliness.
